There are many different acne scar cream products out there that promise to get rid of acne scars – however most wonder if it works or not before trying it.

The first thing to realize is that there are four different types of acne scars and each type is caused from different reasons. Icepick, box, and rolling scar types are due to the skin not producing enough regeneration tissue to help it heal completely. Hypertrophy scars are due to an excess of the tissue being formed.

When it comes to attempting to reduce or heal scarring with creams and lotions, it is important to start early at the first sign of scarring rather than waiting later. This is because early on your skin is still in the healing process – after ward it may be too late to make a difference.

The most beneficial of creams and lotions are those that contain Vitamin A and Vitamin E which both help with healing. Some have found that using shea butter products can be a natural way to help moisturize, heal, and protect the skin. Other ingredients that aid in the healing of scar tissue include enzymes, amino acids, and other different elements that have healing and inflammatory reduction properties.

When choosing a product for you, it’s important that you carefully assess the different types of treatment, and speaking to a dermatologist may be necessary to diagnose the type of scarring you have and the best method of reducing and eliminating it. In addition to the many lotions and creams available, there are also many different procedures that can help, such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and laser therapy.

If after consulting with a doctor and you still believe that trying a cream for acne scarring, then you will want to research carefully what type to use. Here are some things to look out for:

Is It Pore-Clogging? You will want to make sure that the product you choose will not cause clogged pores, as this could not only cause the condition to be worse, but also possibly cause additional breakouts on the surface of your skin.

Will it Dry the Skin Out? Just as too oily of a product can cause pimples, too dry of skin can also cause problems. Dry skin and dead skin cells can cause bacteria to become trapped which causes the breakouts to occur.

Is the Company Legitimate & Reputable? There are a lot of fly by night miracle product making companies out there, and you need to be careful with whom you deal with. Not all products have been tested or approved by the FDA. Be sure that when choosing a product it is a company that is legitimate and has a reputation of quality products and satisfied customers.

Allergy Concerns: If you have any sensitivities to nuts or other products, always use caution when trying any lotion of any type, as there may be some traces of things that can cause allergic reaction in some people. For example, shea butter is generally safe for most people but it is advised that those with latex allergies or nut allergies to avoid it.

If you do your homework and research the products you are considering carefully to try you can greatly increase your success with this possible treatment option.

Do you have any experiences using acne scar cream? What has or hasn’t worked for you? Sharing your comments below is always welcomed and will greatly help others with the same concerns who visit our site.

When a breakout occurs, of course we would like to know how to get rid of acne fast. We take a look at the most common natural home remedies and over the counter treatments used for spot treating acne.
Post from: Cure Acne Help

Almost everybody wants to know how to get rid of acne fast. Whether you’ve got a special event you’ve been looking forward to and s0 naturally a giant zit has appeared just in the nick of time or maybe you’ve tried the slow methods and lost patience, everyone would like an instant results type of secret formula.

Unfortunately, there are not as many ways to get rid of acne quickly as we’d like. Many may try a lot of the usual methods only to be disappointed that it may not have had any serious real effect on the outcome or shown the results they were hoping for. This can be very discouraging and causes many people to believe that they simply are stuck with acne no matter what they try to do to get rid of it.

It’s easy to understand why you want to lose it quickly. Just about everyone has become interested in doing things that fastest way as possible. We don’t want to wait. We don’t have patience. We want it all and we want it now.

So what to do? Is there really any way to get rid of it fast? Can you make pimples just disappear instantly in any way shape or form?

The problem with most remedies and cures that you will read and learn about is that they work for certain types of acne. Because there are many different causes as to why a breakout or a blemish might occur not all treatments are effective. To cure it the most effectively, you need to know the real reason behind why it has occurred.

For most breakouts, it is due to bacteria becoming trapped in the pores in your skin. The bacteria may cause it to turn white, red, or black. Sometimes it can not only be a distraction or unsightly, it can be painful as well, especially as in the case of acne cysts.

In chronic conditions that happen regularly, constantly, or very frequently, it is important to look at what the underlying cause for the bacteria to be trapped in the skin may be. For some it could be a sign of a more serious condition such as a hormonal imbalance or other disorders. This is why if you are very concerned about your skin you should always speak to a dermatologist who can assess the condition of your skin and perform any necessary tests that can out rule the possibilities of any other problems causing the breakouts to occur.

If the problem is a rare occurrence or does not happen frequently, then it is usually just a normal part of life for most people – and sometimes spot treatment will work just fine. There are a number of commercial applications, lotions, creams, and scrubs that can work, but there are also many home remedies as well. Of the home remedies the most common ones are to use a salt scrub made with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, mild cleanser, and water to wash the face and then apply a drying agent such as toothpaste or baking soda paste to the spot. While this is as pretty much as natural as it gets, you should of course take into consideration what type of skin you have and be aware if there is any possibility existing of allergic reaction or irritation that may occur. Some may also apply an antibiotic ointment to the spot which can also help soothe the skin if it is painful. There is also no guarantee that this will actually work for all people or skin types, especially if the blemish is severe.

Most over the counter treatments that exist will likely contain some combination of benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. However, these do not always clear up breakouts as fast as most would like and can also cause excessive drying or irritation in some people.

If you are concerned about your skin, we can’t stress enough the importance of talking to your doctor about any concerns that you have regarding your health. Many people believe that acne is just a regular part of life – but with the proper medical care it can be reduced dramatically helping you feel and look your best.

We take a look at the many possible treatments on how to get rid of acne scars to help you decide which ones may be right for you.
Post from: Cure Acne Help

If you are interested in how to get rid of acne scars, it helps to understand the different types to best understand what treatment options are available and how they work for acne scar removal. Every person is different and everyone will see different results from the various treatments available.

Acne scars happen as the skin’s natural reaction to injury to the skin tissue. There are four main types: Icepick, Boxcar, Rolling, and Hypertrophic, which you can see examples of in the diagram below. Some scarring results from the skin not producing enough regenerative tissue, others form due to an excess of tissue being formed.

Because each of the scars occur for different reasons and the shape of them is different, it is logical that some will respond to different treatments better than others.

There are a few natural home remedies that one can try, though they often do not completely cure the condition or remove them completely. These include drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy diet, which is believed to cause skin to be better at healing. Other natural remedies include using face masks of yogurt or lemon juice. However, for most people these natural remedies will not have any impact on the scarring present on their skin, at which point it becomes imperative to talk to a dermatologist.

A dermatologist is a doctor who specializes specifically in skin care and skin conditions. He or she can assess the damage done to your skin and help you decide with what available options may be best for treating your skin and getting rid of the scarring. Choosing a doctor that is experienced and can give many examples of what has worked and what has not worked can help you narrow down the choices to find one that is most likely to be effective first.

Before beginning professional treatment after talking to your doctor, you’ll want to ask yourself a few questions, since many of the options available may be very expensive or require surgical procedures. With all medical intervention, there are pros and cons as well as risks and benefits. Before committing to a decision, carefully researching and understanding the risks and benefits will help you decide if it is worth it or not. You will also want to check with your insurance company to see which procedures are covered and which are not, as this may also affect your decision, especially if out of pocket costs are high or out of your budget.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Do the scars affect how I feel about myself?

Do the scars cause any pain?

Do I feel subconscious around others because of them?

Do I have any underlying medical conditions that may be complicated by acne scar removal treatments?

How will I feel if the first treatment does not work?

Is the treatment affordable?

Will they fade and heal on their own over time?

Below is a brief overview of the different treatments available for how to get rid of acne scars:

Subcision: This treatment is typically done for rolling types of scars and it is performed by causing the skin to raise and fill in the indentation. This is best for shallow scars and may require multiple treatments in order to see an effect.

Chemical Peels: Chemical Peels work by taking an acidic substance and applying it directly to the face to remove the top layer of skin to help reduce the appearance of scarring. It may help with scars that are not extremely deep, but it can also result in burning or itching skin.

Microdermabrasion: Microdermabrasion for acne can sometimes be helpful. In this procedure, an abrasive is applied to the skin which removes the top layer of skin. It is generally painless, but may result in burning or itching. Multiple treatments may be necessary, and it can take several months to see results. However, it is a popular option amongst many, and even home kits are available.

Laser Resurfacing: Like the other treatments we listed above, this is another one involving the removal of the top layer of skin. It uses lasers to do this and must be performed by a qualified specialist. This can be one of the most expensive types of treatments available – but it does not guarantee any better results that the other ones do. Some people have reported that their scars have returned, which can be frustrating.

The Many “Miracle” Creams: You will likely see a lot of advertisements for miracle creams that reduce or remove acne scars, however there has been little proof that these are actually effective. Some contain harsh chemicals that may actually do more damage to your skin than good. Ones that contain cocoa butter or vitamin E may help with improving elasticity and helping to treat with some types of scars, but this is not always the case. Some creams may result in drying of the skin or clogging of pores, which could potentially make many acne problems even worse.

Collagen Injection: In this treatment, collagen, a natural substance, is injected into the site of the abrasion and may help it to stretch or fill some sites. Treatment by this option may only be temporary for a few months.

Fat Transfer: This treatment involves taking fat from one site of your body tissue and transferring it into the site where the scarring is present. It often needs to be repeated every few months but can be an effective option.

As you can see, there are no easy and instant cures for how to get rid of acne scars. Prevention may be one of the best cures – seeking treatment before the occurrence of scarring. Speaking to your doctor or dermatologist will help you find the most beneficial solution for skin care needs.

Learn how milk of magnesia as acne treatment is used and how it works with this informative article.
Post from: Cure Acne Help

Milk of Magnesia is a milky type of liquid that is made from magnesium hydroxide. Most commonly known as a treatment as a laxative or antacid, some attention has been brought to it for using milk of magnesia as acne treatment. It is sold over the counter and is available in either liquid or capsule form in most pharmacies and health store venues.

Those who have used this home remedy for treatment before have had some success in using it, especially if their skin is very oily. Those with dry skin may want to avoid the treatment, as it will likely excessively dry the skin out and possibly cause itching, burning, or rash like results. (As can all possible acne cures may.)

The drying effect of using the product can help those with oily skin have some success in drying it out. Oily skin makes it most likely for bacteria to become trapped underneath the skin cells that can result in breakouts and pimples.

When you are using milk of magnesium for treating acne and pimples, you’ll want to make sure that you apply it topically only. This means do not eat it, unless you want to have a sick stomach! It is a laxative, so unless you need a laxative, it’s definitely not something you want to take! You will be spending most of the day in the bathroom most likely if you do that. Fortunately, using it topically as a treatment does not have the same effects.

To use it, you will want to take a small cotton ball and dip it into the milk of magnesia liquid. Make sure you shake it up before using. Then carefully apply it all over your face, taking care not to get any of it in your eyes. You will want to let it dry, which can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes and then carefully wash it off. After you rinse it off you will not likely need to do anything else, but you may add a moisturizer if you are prone to very dry skin.

If you are trying it for the first time, you will likely want to wait a few times before applying it to your skin to make sure you do not have any harsh reactions to it. If your skin is very dry, it is likely that it could make the problems worse or cause such dry skin the potential discomfort from that does not justify the small possibility of benefit available. Be sure that if you have any severe reactions to using it that you contact your physician.

If after a few applications your skin seems to be responding well to it and you have not noticed any side effects of using it, then you can increase the frequency of the amount of times you use it. You can use it up to once a day if it does not cause too much dryness. However, if it does cause too much irritation than you should reduce the amount of times you use it.

Using natural remedies is just one of the many possible ways to cure acne. The best treatment for severe cases is to usually pinpoint the exact cause and speak with a dermatologist. Treating skin conditions is often something that can be a process of trial and error, as everyone is different. While milk of magnesia as acne treatment may work for some people with much success, others may need to look into alternative ways to care for their skin.

Can yogurt work for treating acne? Learn why it might and how you can use it as part of your regular diet and skin care routines.
Post from: Cure Acne Help

Most people would not consider using yogurt for treating acne, but some have seen improved results by using it as a regimen for curing their skin conditions.

Yogurt, which is basically a cultured dairy product available in most grocery stores, is believed to be both a natural astringent which also can have moisturizing properties as it is rich in vitamins and minerals that can be good for your skin.

Yogurt is created when milk is fermented and the properties of milk are changed by helpful bacteria that create lactic acid. The high acid content of yogurt in conjunction with naturally high ph levels make it helpful in killing the bad bacteria that causes breakouts on your skin.

Because it does contain helpful bacteria it can also be helpful in combating a build up of yeast which can sometimes overstimulate sebaceous glands.

You can use yogurt in a variety of natural ways. The easiest and most obvious choice is to eat it of course! This is also the safest method of using it, since eating it will likely not cause you any issues. You can find it in most grocery stores and it comes in a wide variety of flavors and styles. Plain yogurt may not be the best tasting, so it is perfectly acceptable for you to choose a flavor that more suits your own personal tastes and preferences. There is strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, peach, chocolate, vanilla, and probably hundreds of other possible flavor combinations you may wish to try.

Of course, the first question is “how much should I eat?” There’s not a right or wrong answer to this, but it does help to know that the USDA recommends only 2-3 servings of dairy products per day. For this reason, we don’t recommend going over 2-3 cups of yogurt per day. It is likely that eating just 2 cups of it per day can make a small difference over time. There are also yogurt probiotic drinks that are supposed to aid in digestion that you can also try if you would prefer that over the custard cups versions.

Another thing that is popular is to create a yogurt face mask to use once a week in helping to cure acne and other skin blemishes. By pasting plain yogurt on your skin and allowing it to sit there for 5-10 minutes before washing it off it can directly work its magic on your skin. Be sure you use the plain version without any sugar or fruits added, as that can be a sticky mess if you are not careful! You will also want to make sure that you very thoroughly clean the yogurt off your face – it is not recommended to leave it on any longer than 15 minutes and if you do not clean it off completely it could actually irritate skin problems further.

While using yogurt for treating acne may not solve all of your skin problems and concerns or be the perfect cure, it can be an additional method for helping you have healthy and clear skin.

Many people are looking for natural cures for acne as an alternative to harsh chemicals or prescription medication. Fortunately, there are many different natural products that can help alleviate the symptoms and discomfort.

Before trying to treat the condition, it is important that you first understand what causes a breakout to happen. In most cases, it is a build up of dead skin cells and trapped bacteria that cause white heads, black heads, and other pimples to appear on the skin. Therefore, logically it makes sense to treat it in ways that will help remove those conditions that make bacteria thrive under the skin.

Recently we posted an article about Home Remedies for Acne, which can be a great resource for the variety of different things available in your medicine or kitchen cabinets that can help alleviate symptoms and discomfort associated with acne. However, none of these are well researched or documented – some of them may only merely be old wive’s tails. Most dermatologists will agree that the advice of a qualified medical professional and studied and proven treatments will offer a better solution for the problem.

When you are considering natural cures for acne, you will really want to think about what the word natural means to you. To us, natural would mean a product that has to chemical additives and occurs unaltered and naturally in nature, such as a plant product like witch hazel or aloe vera. There are many “natural” products available commercially both online or in the aisles of your local drug store. However, when you read the product labels you’ll likely find a list of chemicals and preservatives that have been added. If you want truly natural products, it can be a little more difficult to find ones that are easily obtainable at an affordable price as well as truly do not contain any additives or unnatural substances.

Also known as melaleuca oil, this is a substance that is believed to have antiseptic and antifungal properties. It is quite strong on its own, so it is best to use it in a diluted format so that it does not cause irritation or inflammation of the skin. Tea tree oil is toxic to consume, so it should never be eaten, drank, or otherwise ingested. There are many products available that contain it in the list of ingredients that you can try if you are uncomfortable or concerned about using it safely.

Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera is known mostly for its healing and soothing properties, especially associated with skin conditions such as sunburn. It can greatly help with soothing uncomfortable spots that are irritated and painful. You can grow aloe plants and extract the gel from the plant yourself, or you can find it commercially in just about any store.

Proper Diet: It is believed that if you eat properly your skin will be healthier as well. Eating a diet that is rich in protein and green leafy vegetables can be a natural way to help prevent skin conditions from reoccurring. When you eat a proper diet, you can also see many benefits of getting enough vitamins and minerals which can also help promote healthy skin.

Coconut Oil: Coconut oil may be another possible good treatment for skin ailments naturally. Many have reported success in using it in conjunction with aloe vera gel.

If you are seriously interested in learning natural cures for acne, you may want to speak with your dermatologist to see what products he or she recommends that are not chemically engineered. Being able to use the things available naturally on earth can be a great way to not only help your skin but also avoid harsh side effects and damage from more abrasive treatment regimens.

Severe acne can often be a problem for many people. It is more than just having the occasional break out or a few problem areas, but acne that may be spread out all over one’s skin in different areas of their body beyond the face such as the back or the arms and legs. It is usually painful and can be swollen. It is also a chronic condition, which means it doesn’t just go away after puberty and many times does not react or respond to traditional over the counter remedies. While different doctors and people will have different opinions on what exactly should be classified as severe acne, it is most likely that they will all agree that if it affects your ability to enjoy life to the fullest, it should be considered something that needs medical treatment.

Having clear skin is not a matter of being vain or being judgmental about how your look. It can affect your whole outlook on life, such as how you feel about yourself. Depression, anxiety, stress, low self esteem and others can become a result in having skin problems that interfere with your every day life. While we all know that it’s who is inside that counts, when you have severe skin problems you may feel self conscious and worry that others might not be able to appreciate you for you or see past those red splotches.

The good news is that you do not have to be stuck with the bad skin forever. Many people think it is a hopeless situation, until they begin speaking to their doctor and dermatologist. It is easy to be tempted to try the many different over the counter remedies instead of seeing a doctor, especially if you do not have health insurance. But because severe acne can be due to hormonal imbalances, overactive sebaceous glands, or other underlying causes, it is likely that professional help would not only be more cost effective in the long run, but also help you see results much more quickly.

Here are just a few of the possible treatments your physician may recommend:

Oral Contraceptives: Contraceptives, most commonly known as birth control pills, can either make acne worse or for those who have hormonal imbalances show miraculous results in their ability to regulate hormones that cause skin to be more prone to breakouts. You need a prescription and the doctor will likely order some tests to verify that hormones may be playing a role in your skin condition.

Steroids: If the glands in your body are causing the breakouts, steroid treatment may be effective for some, though overuse or abuse of steroids could make the problem worse. Prescription creams may be effective in reducing itching, burning, and redness.

Oral Antibiotics: Many cases of acne are caused by bacteria trapped underneath dead skin cells. Often times an antibacterial cream is simply not enough, but some patients can find great relief in taking prescriptions from their doctor that regulate the accumulation of bacteria and infection. Your doctor will be able to make recommendations on what types would be the best for you.

These are just a few examples of the different treatments available for severe acne. There are many other options available, which is best to be discussed between you and your doctor if you are concerned about your skin’s health.

Many home remedies for acne exist, which can make treating skin problems a lot less expensive than designer washes and creams as well as microdermabrasion and other treatments. Not all home remedies are created equal however, and many of them are based simply on little more than folklore. In general if you have severe skin problems or breakouts are affecting your quality of life, you should make an appointment with a trusted dermatologist. Keep in mind that when trying home remedies that you should not substitute it for medical care or advice and that you should also consider any allergies or skin sensitivities you may have from using certain items.

Here are some popular home remedies for acne:

Sugar Exfoliating Scrub: Mix 1/2 teaspoon super fine sugar with regular facial soap. Wet face and lather vigorously and rinse well. You can also alternatively use Vitamin E Oil instead. It is believed the sugar helps with removing dead skin cells.

Milk Cleanser: Mix 1/4 cup of milk and 1/4 teaspoon of table salt. Gently massage into face and allow to dry 2-3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. It is believed the milk will clean out pores and the salt will remove dead skin cells and bacteria.

Witch Hazel: Witch Hazel is a natural remedy which can be found at most retail stores in the pharmacy section very inexpensively. It is a natural astringent, which means it opens up pores and draws out any bacteria. Simply dab onto a cotton ball and apply to face. Excessive use may lead to drying, so do not use more than once per day, and less if irritation occurs.

Avocado Mask: Mash up 1/2 avocado and apply to face for 15 minutes, wash and rinse thoroughly afterward.

Oatmeal Mask: Cook 1 cup of oatmeal according to instructions on package and allow to cool. Apply to face and allow to sit for 15 minutes before removing and washing afterward.

Toothpaste: Most toothpastes have a abrasive added into them that can help with removing dead skin cells, as well as many ingredients that can help with drying out oily skin or drawing the bacteria up to the surface and out of the pores that causes breakouts. You can use it for troublesome spots and areas or you can use it as a face wash.

Tea Tree Oil: Tea Tree Oil is thought to have antiseptic properties in fighting off bacteria. It can be used for troublesome breakout areas.

Antibiotic Ointment: For acne that is caused from bacteria, applying an antibiotic ointment to painful areas or to an acne cyst, it can be helpful in killing the infection that is causing the inflammation.

Baking Soda Paste: This is an easy to make homemade acne treatment – basically you just mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda and enough water so it sticks together and you have a nice paste to apply to affected areas.

Ice Cubes: If you have a sore, swollen, or painful pimple, then an ice cube might help with reducing the amount of swelling and redness. Apply ice as soon as it begins to hurt or swell and hold it there for several minutes. You will be able to tell if this worked or not after a few minutes. This is a good one to do in conjunction with the others, as it won’t get rid of the spot but can help if it is painful.

Drink Water: Water is always good for you, and drinking more of it can help your skin be more likely to heal better, resist infection, and replenish cells efficiently.

Do you have any home remedies for acne that have worked (or didn’t work for that matter!) that you would like to share? We’d love to hear about it in our comments section below.

Microdermabrasion for acne treatment has gained popularity over the years. Learn about what is involved as well as any potential side effects.
Post from: Cure Acne Help

Microdermabrasion for acne is procedure for treating both recurring acne problems and scars that has gained increasing popularity over the last few years. While the procedure was not designed specifically for acne, it has shown to be effective in some individuals. Below we’ll take a look at how it works, what the potential side effects are, and whether you should consider trying it or not.

What is Microdermabrasion?
As the name may suggest, it is a process in which a light abrasive (commonly zinc oxide or aluminum oxide crystals) is used in removing the outer most layer of dead skin from the surface. Often pimples and breakouts occur due to bacteria becoming trapped under the dead skin cells and clogged pores, so by removing the layer of dead skin this can help with the prevention of this happening. It can also be effective in removing acne scars or other blemishes from the skin.

Microdermabrasion can be done in both professional and home settings. It can be done at a spa or in many dermatologist offices. Many home kits exist which allow for someone to do it themselves. Treatments done in a professional setting may be more powerful and effective than home systems, but both can show some improvement in individuals who have decided to use it.

While the procedure is generally painless for most people, it is important to note that there are some possible potential side effects that could cause irritation or discomfort. The most common side effects are redness and a temporary increase in spots afterward. This is because when it is done the bacteria comes to the surface. You may also feel some temporary soreness or discomfort afterward, which can often be relieved by using moisturizing lotion for your skin. After treatments you should also avoid exposure to sun light, since your skin will be more sensitive.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that you should not use the treatments or have the procedure done more than every 2 weeks, as this can cause more harm to your skin than good. It can be very tempting if you see results and improvement to want to do it more often, but it will not be good for your skin.

Who Should Use It?
If you have discussed it with your doctor or dermatologist and it is believed that build up of dead skin cells of bacteria may be the culprit, it could be a potential solution for your problem. It may also be an alternative to consider if different things such as antibiotics, lotions, creams, and other treatments have shown to be ineffective in improving the condition of your skin and clearing up your acne problems. Keep in mind that you will also need to do microdermabrasion treatments continuously over a period of several months to often see results, so it is not a miracle overnight cure for solving skin problems.

Trying to get rid of acne blackheads can be annoying, but learning what causes them and the treatments available can help you get rid of them for good.
Post from: Cure Acne Help

Trying to get rid of acne blackheads are a common problem for many. They are usually very small but are noticeable because there are often many of them. They are especially common on the face in the nose, chin, cheeks, and forehead. Those with oily skin are at the most risk for having problems with blackheads and whiteheads.

Blackheads are caused by hair follicles that become clogged by sebum and dead skin cells. Sebum is the oily matter that is produced by your sebaceous glands in the skin. The hair follicles that cause blackheads are more open than other follicles, which allows for air to enter. While it appears that your face has spots of dirt, the discoloration is actually caused by a chemical reaction resulting in the oxidization of the substances trapped in the follicle which gives the spots their black or dark brown color.

Blackheads are typically not painful, but they can be at risk for becoming infected and developing into larger and more painful spots. They can often be treated through the proper cleansing and care for the skin. While they cannot go away on their own or overnight, using good skin care practices for preventing acne can be of great help in reducing the number you have.

Cleaning the skin should be done daily with a mild cleanser. Some use exfoliating cleansers, which are believed to help with cleaning into the pores and removing the build up of dead skin cells and sebum. Blackheads do not go away over night or by magic, and even once they have been controlled it is important to create a daily routine to help keep them from recurring.

Here are some different remedies available that may work for you:

Astringents: Astringents are any substance or chemical that causes the body tissue to constrict. One of the most common and easily obtained astringents is witch hazel, which is extracted from the bark and leaves of the witch hazel plant. There are also other astringents available, such as “Sea-Breeze” available in most retail stores, as well as many other naturally occurring substances.

Beta Hydroxy Acid: This is another compound you may find in many cleansers and creams and lotions available. They are naturally occurring or may be produced synthetically. The most common type of beta hydroxy acid used for treating blackheads and whiteheads is salicylic acid. Salicylic acid works by helping dead skin cells shed more easily which can help reduce the build up of them resulting in clogged pores.

Exfoliates: Many cleansers contain exfoliates which can help with reducing the build up of dead skin cells and sebum in hair follicles. These types of cleansers often have a “sandy” or “abrasive” feel to them as they shed away the dead skin cells. An exfoliating scrub should only be used 3-4 times per week at maximum to prevent excessive drying, peeling, or abrasion to the skin.

Pore Cleansing Strips: Pore cleansing strips became very popular in the nineties and have shown for some to be beneficial in help reducing blackhead breakouts. They work by applying the strip to the affected area for a certain amount of time as specified by the package instructions and then peeling away. When the strip is lifted, much of the build up inside of the pores also comes up with it.

Finding a solution and treatment for acne blackheads can be a process of trial and error for many. Using different combinations and practicing good cleansing habits can greatly reduce and help prevent the build up of blackheads and whiteheads on your skin. If experimenting with several products, it is usually best to try one at a time to make sure it is not causing an allergic reaction, as well as how effective one treatment may be compared to the others for you.

Have any experiences to share about acne blackheads? Leave your comments below.

An astringent may also be helpful in cleaning out clogged pores.

Remember that everyone is different and some treatments may or may not work for you. It can sometimes be a matter of trial and error to find the best solution.
